Asymmetrical Rod Pocket Sheers create a soft and romantic look. This treatment can be used on a single window, or a pair of windows. Notice how the top header has been arranged to create an additional detail of interest. Feminine, yet not too fussy. This treatment works well is sheer fabrics, as well as slightly heavier fabrics - with matching or contrasting trim.

This drapery treatment incorporated the most exquisite sheer silk fabric by S.Harris, over a perfectly-matched rich gold slubbed fabric by Fabricut. There is a loose cuff at the top, and a wider border cuff on the bottom. Body was given to this treatment by the use of interlining, or bump, and extra fullness was created by creating deep tucks under the top cuff, at the point where the drapery hangs from custom finished rosettes. The same treatment was used on the opposite wall, in the living room.

My client's wish was to accentuate the high ceilings in her bedroom and eliminate the bright morning light. We accomplished this by hanging blackout-lined woven wood shades 18" higher than the actual window opening, mounting a decorative wood drapery rod slightly above the shade top, and framing the window with beautiful pleated stationary drapery panels in a beautiful blue/green color to compliment her artwork. The result was a tranquil, spa-like setting.

Even bathrooms can reap the benefits of a glamourous drapery treatment. Sometimes called a Turban Swag, this valance is suited to a variety of decor styles, and can be as formal, or as casual, as you wish, depending on the fabric chosen. The added trim, which in this particular case was a barrel tassel by Barbara Barry for Kravet, really completes this simple, yet elegant, design.

Sometimes high ceilings can be a challenge. Do we take the drapery treatments all the way to the top, or stop somewhere in between? It is important to take into consideration the scale of the room and what the room is primarily used for. In this case, while the ceiling was very high, the room was of standard size. In addition, this room was used primarily for piano playing, and usually with a relatively small audience in attendance . Instead of grandeur, the objective was to create intimacy, so it made sense to bring our window treatments down to a cozy level. This particular type of treatment is called a Waterfall Drape, because it cascades over a stationary element like a waterfall. This style of drapery treatment allows us to combine two very different fabrics in a very cohesive, and pleasing way.
